PERSONAL DATES
I grew up in a small Romansh-speaking mountain village in the Val Lumnezia, Graubünden. I spent a great deal of time outdoors with my parents and two elder siblings. In school years, regular sporting activities were the result of our need for movement, and we were soon taking part in competitions in various sporting disciplines.
Mountain biking was particularly fascinating for us youngsters and my father too. We developed a great passion for a fun style of riding. In my youth, our holidays and free time were mostly spent on our bikes. At the very same time, the Swiss racing series Swisspower Cup came into existence, where I was able to grow and become successful. In 2003 I made it into Thomas Frischknecht’s professional team, the SCOTT-SRAM Mountainbike Racing Team which I am still a part of. In this team I achieved success with 16 individual WC medals, ten world champion titles and at the Olympic Games the gold medal in Rio de Janeiro, the bronze medal in Beijing and the silver medal in London. Since 2007 I have named mountain biking as my profession. My aim is to do so for many years to come.
